Fennec Fox
These foxes are found in the Sahara Dessert in North Africa. They are nocturnal omnivores which includes hunting for insects, rodents, and birds and eating desert vegetation. They have extraordinarily large ears which function not only to hear their prey at night but to disperse heat throughout the day.
Their coat is generally sandy colored so that they can blend in to their surrounding habitat. Their thick fur functions not only to keep them warm in the cool desert nights, but reflects the light of the sun during the day to keep them cooler while they sleep.
